The Negative Effect of Canada Wildfires on Office Environments
The recent Canadian wildfires have had a significant impact on air quality throughout the US., even reaching as far as the Chicago area. This has raised concerns about the potential health risks employees face while working in the corporate workplace. However, as hybrid work has become the new normal, companies must realize the responsibility to protect not only remote workloads but their remote workforce as well. This includes telecommuters working from a home office or in any other shared space. To address these concerns, the new Cisco office in Chicago was designed with IoT sensors to measure and mitigate any negative effects on our indoor air quality.
The Cisco Meraki MT14 IoT sensor is a cutting-edge device that allows us to monitor various air pollutants in real-time. It measures the levels of particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon dioxide (CO2), and temperature and humidity. By continuously monitoring these parameters, we can quickly identify any deviations from the acceptable air quality standards and take immediate action to rectify the situation.
